The Monday afternoon meditation workshop will provide an opportunity to practice with other participants, offer examples of practices addressing diverse learners, explore the elements of guiding group practices, and demonstrate how mindfulness (focused awareness) and attention training provide an important foundation for the ASHF course.
Like the ASHF course itself, our overall approach to focused awareness involves a synthesis of declarative and procedural knowledge. Our intellectual understanding of how mindfulness, for example, can support flourishing can be deepened by actually engaging in contemplative practices. The meditation workshop will provide examples of practices from a variety of different cultural and disciplinary perspectives.
